So, here are my (very consistent) thoughts on sharpness, in image form 😂:

Frankly, sharpness is... everything! by simple.joy, on Flickr

Frankly, sharpness is... meaningless! by simple.joy, on Flickr
@simplejoy, The frist one does made me think about a few I made a while ago.
(shooting with a shallow DOF is fun)

Simplyjoy,
I like the sharpness of the leaf in first one. For the second picture, I keep wondering what it is.
Photobygms,
I like seeing all of that green. I sometimes just take pictures of green plants also without flowers. Usually, that is when the first leaves show themselves in the spring. But I can't seem to take them like that with the shallow DOF, since I prefer sharp photos (for the most part, with some exceptions).
I do like all the photos, but this one was puzzling me 😳
First I thought it was a old and worn thrown away shoe, but than I realized it a bit more fishy 😀
Even with f/2.8 still a reasonable DOF But that because foreground is not that isolated from the background, if you would change your own position you might get a more shallow DOF effect, And also shooting at f/1.8 could be an option to enhance the shallow DOF.
😉
That‘s an outstanding capture! Excellent work on focusing, beautiful colors and background. 👍
I agree with simplejoy, that's a superb shot.
Interesting arrangement of the photos in the post, too.
Hi Dunlin, Thank You.
We're still getting heavy rain, I think they've said we could have some sunshine next week 😀 😂
Mocha,
your Macclesfield Canal walks are very fruitful
Hi David, Thank You.
So, no prizes given, but who can guess what's the weather's like today, here on the southern coast of England?
I think they like to call it summer, we got the same (Netherlands) 😔
Yesterday the weather was fine when we startd out, but black clouds soon rolled in.
Hi David,
It is indeed a sad story, however your pictures to accompany your narrative are excellent, I particularly like photo 4.
A young robin and some hollyhocks.
Hi SteveP,
Super photo of the Robin.
