I like these shots - both in terms of composition and look and the details are very convincing.

Thanks. The Pentax 645 120 is a sharp macro lens. You are correct. This is pushing the lens far beyond what it was designed for. I tend to do that with equipment. I enjoy "what if" experimentation.
    Thanks,

I totally get that - try to do that as well and it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately I don't own a Pentax camera, but here's one of those 'pushing it' shots I took with an enlarging lens, which is heavily rumored to have been made by Pentax, the Durst Neonon 50 mm f/2.8:

After yesterday's bitching about lack of subjects, today I upload 13 images to Flickr. I took a different path through the vineyards, one I usually avoid due to a huge hill. Here's today's catch.

Great macro photo. The composition is very nice and clean. How did you mount and focus the lens? I use Nikon El-Nikkor enlarging lenses on helicoids and Pentax bellows. Interesting rumor about the Durst, never heard it before.

Very nice images - is there a thunderstorm approaching in the first one? Very interesting mood with the sky being darker in part then the ground would make me guess.

Thank you very much! It is a regular M39 enlarging lens, so quite easy to mount via an M39 adapter + helicoid. However I usually mount all my lenses on my bellows, which I have a M39 lens board for. In certain instances I use the lens reversed for which I either mount it (on the same lens board but) inside the bellows, or via the filter thread, if the lens has one. The (Pentax) Durst Neonons do have one.

I covered the rumors and some of the possible theories in an article I wrote with my friend Mark here:
    deltalenses.com/agfa-enlarger-lenses/
if you're curious. It's about the Agfa Magnolar lenses, but they're identical in everything but labeling to the Neonons.

Pentax 645Z, Pentax DFA 645 55mm, Pentax #1&3 extension tubes, and Pentax AF160 ringflash. Had to use the 645 because the poor guy was on my Domke bag holding the K-1 lenses. ISO 100, F22 at 1/125. So close I had to turn flash to 1/16 power.

I think I missed the mark today. Took a couple of shots with theme of motion blur, and I think I got a couple of duds. You tell me.

@JCDoss The road shot works well. Think the other would benefit from more movement. Have you ever tried taking hundreds of shots on one frame, using the multiple exposure mode? I can still remember a Nikon ad where a pro did that with their F2 camera. It was a boat tied to a dock, bobbing up and down in the water.

Changing subjects here. In the where do we go next thread, the post counts of all threads are listed. This thread has the most posts of any photo thread. It is only beat by that thread and the DPR mod thread. Congratulations on starting such a great thread.

That's a great idea! I think I've done something similar before with waterfalls, but for this application it hadn't occured to me. Next time I'll have to remember this and give it a try.

Thanks for this too, and thanks for continuing to contribute to this thread with your comments and images. Cheers!

Vacuum tubes of my D. Sachs D2 stereo preamp. The blue was supplied by the on/off switch of the PS Audio Stellar 300 amp. Pentax K-1 with Kolari hot mirror filter, Nikon EL-Nikkor 80mm lens. Could have used a Pentax lens but wanted to also shoot this in full spectrum, IR and UV*. ISO 200, F8 at 3 minutes. Shot a little dark so as to not blow out more highlights than needed. Lightened up about 2/3 stop in post processing.

    Thanks for looking,
    barondla

    • Apparently these tubes emit no UV. Even ISO 800, F5.6 at 7 minutes records nothing visible on the monitor.
