With the release of each new Nikon, it was always difficult to know the origin and specifications of their sensors.
    Always theories and hypotheses!
    See here: www.lonestardigital.com/techcorner.htm
It's like the famous Nikon D2Hs LBCAST sensor

I also bought in May 2007, the mini Nikon D40, to assist my D200.
My 14-year-old daughter at the time, quickly borrowed it from me for several years. 🤣

    Re the Canon D30,
i picked up one about 4 years ago at a fair for £10.
An interesting camera that despite being APS-C format only takes EF lenses and not EF-S which I assume came later.
I still occasionally take mine out just for fun.
For £10 it was great value, not so sure I'd have been able to justify the $3500 some years ago.

Still a little patience, in about twenty years (2045) you will be able to buy a Canon EOS R3 for Ā£100 šŸ˜Ž
In the meantime, enjoy your Canon D30.
I really like this little Canon ā¤ļø

    1st mirrorless

After the smartphone devastated the compact camera market.
Here is the first ML, which will undermine the DSLR industry!

I bought this little ML when it came out, intrigued and charmed by its smallness.
Canon and Nikon certainly did not feel threatened by ML in 2008 šŸ˜„

Yeah. He went thru all the old stuff I had and now he's into stuff I skipped over. Eventually he will get to the Pentax 645D with 40 MP Kodak CCD and I can comment again. :)

While most of my cameras are black, not all are. One of my 5x4 cameras is grey, and I have a gold Pentax QS1.
Several of the intermediate sized one are silver, green or brown too.
Black does reduce the chances my wife will recognise it as a new camera, so has definite plus points.

We haven't got enough space for me to slip in a spare car, so it doesn't become an issue there!
