I didn't find the D3S that big an improvement over the D3, but I still bought two of them. The D3 was that camera that prompted me to sell all my Canon gear.
I never had the chance to have a Nikon D3 or a D700 in my hands.
I would have liked to compare the iso between the two (D3 / D3s), one day perhaps.
The D3S is better at high ISO, but it's not night and day.

It took me 10 years to get one.
With the K5 I brought a used mk2 well before getting the Q.
The 645D is going to have to wait quite a bit longer, none of my lenses adapt easily to it, so the initial cost of ownership will be significantly higher. My 5x4 lenses could be adapted but I doubt that would prove practical in use.
How many warehouse do you have for all your cameras Marc ?
Unlike others, FA 645 lenses are easily found at very affordable prices.
But for now, I'm very happy with only two lenses
