I really like this set Digirame, brilliant photos.

FWIW, a few weeks ago my oldest sister moved to California. She's spending a couple of years there, working on a qualification she can't get anywhere else.

    Dunlin,

Thanks. I mostly showed pictures of when we had clear skies There were a few hazy days too, when we first arrived there. I hope your sister enjoys California. I think it's much better outside the cities, but we often have to be near the work centers. Of course, now that some of us are working remote, people can move to the nicer less congested areas. If she visits Lake Tahoe in the summer, she should be prepared for lots of crowds on the weekend. California is very large, about 1.6 times the size of the UK.

Saw the skyscraper (the DC Towers) yesterday😂

It has some kind of leading role in a movie "Extraction II" with Chris Hemsworth on Netflix

Thanks, Photobygms. I havent seen that movie (I dont have Netfilx), but Donau City Tower 1, or (DC1) as it is called here, is interesting. It has a pendulum, or tuned mass damper inside to keep it stable in case of earthquakes -- which do happen here.

I read the suggestions, concerning where we can best group our weekly thread, from Dunlin, Digirame, Steve T, Simplejoy and Fotoworld. Thanks!

I have no idea what the introduction of tags means or what they would look like, but change here comes slowly, so I dont expect them to be introduced soon.

In the meantime, I reviewed at the list of threads in Photographic Gear>Canon, and our older weekly threads would not be submerged there, as is possible here. Adding this to the fact that, as Steve pointed out, five other weekly threads are similarly placed, and I think that using that area makes a lot of sense.

I will discuss it with Alan. All I have to do is just start the weekly thread in a different folder. I would give you due notice of this.

Having thought a little bit more about it, I think I agree. The unique thing in this thread is certainly the Canon focus and so I see no reason why it shouldn't be in the appropriate gear section, like a couple of other similarly brand-focused thread series (or the unfortunately pretty meager "This Month Through Your Adapted Lens" threads) are as well.

I'm sure it can be changed - thanks for checking in with everyone! 👍

Yesterday we had an unusual sunset. These pics have pretty inaccurate WB, but I'm happy with them anyhow. If I get a chance I'll adjust them in post.

I found out my Olympus does WB bracketing, although it does take about 10 seconds to do one photo with all the different WB settings.

    Dunlin,

Nice! With the right combination of clouds we can get those beautiful sunsets. I especially like the second one.

Also, in the distance, one can see the Gloriette in the gardens of the Schloß Schönbrunn (also shown in an earlier outing):

    Hi fotoword,

That's a super picture of the Hardhead duck. Your Australasian Grebe is very similar to our Little Grebe.

    Hi Mocha
That's a beautiful bird, no distracting elements, interesting perch and good framing.
    Nicely done.
Is it different to a Chaff Finch? Not sure if we get them in oz.

    Cheers
    Paul

    Hi fotoword, Thank You.

It's an ancient part of the woodland and all the trees in that part are dead, the wood is gnarled and theres no leaves, I think the birds love that area because of all the bugs living in the fossiled bark.

The ChiffChaffs come over from Scandinavia to summer here although we do now have some residents. The Chaffinches are one of our most abundant birds.

    Mocha,

You found so many good things to photograph. I'm glad to see you are still using the Tamron 150-600mm lens. I really like the bird and the squirrel pictures. That bee closeup is amazing. That macro lens is worth every penny.

    Hi Digirame, Thank You.

It's one of the reasons I haven't bought a Canon EOS R7 because they don't work with the Tamron 150-600mm G1. For now I'll stick with my 7D mkII, the latest software gives me perfectly usable 16,000 ISO images from my 7D mkII so I'm happy with my 'old faithful'.
