did you read where the computers that control the lasers have deep learning AI built in and adjust the control accuracy at 50,000 times per sec , we think the sony a1 is amazing at 1/400 sec 🤔 i suppose you would expect that with 6 billion dollars spent on development 🤨

What I read is that the lasers that are aimed at the tin droplets have a pulse repetition rate of 50kHz.

The wafer positioning control system operates at 20kHz, with 250 picometer repeatability.

Note that their first systems operated at 436 nm, which is the wavelength for which my lens was designed.

I didn’t see in write up, but you can’t use refractive lenses at that wavelength. It’s all done with mirrors. The optics come from Zeiss, with defect correction at the molecular level. The optical path needs to be in a vacuum, since air absorbs EUV.

Even the mask making is exotic.

I clicked on a few of the links to dive deeper into the whole process , Absolutely amazing, took 17 years to get where they are now, they went though the time line of there development stages. really cool stuff.

It’s actually taken at least 65 years to get to where we are now. I start counting when Jean Hoerni invented the planar process.

Its great reading and looking at the processes over the years, electronics has come a long way from the 70s with 555 timers 7400 series of ICs hex inverters, tipple input nand gates, 8 segment leds and the like. i always remember building a logic probe with sound 😌 was a great tool for when i was building scanners and manipulating the PLL circuits on CB radios for people.

Usially I don't read threads that has more than 100posts in dprevived. But it's was interesting for me to read last posts and understand state of discussion about forum feature. But In last page I see discussion about EUV litography. May be it's interesting, but nobody will search info about EUV in topic "where we goi from here". As I understand, still there are no idea about site feature. But may be site become better if offtopic management will be better. Thanks.

On a real forum like dpr posts would get moved to their appropriate forums so subjects aren't strewn all over the site.

I’m a mod on DPR, and I don’t know how to do that. I can move a whole thread, but that’s not going to fix what you consider to be the problem.

It is indeed an interesting subject, at least to some, but I think it should be separated (not dumped) from the pinned thread about the site

I wonder if it would be possible to make a "front page" with links to informed articles dispelling a lot of the nonsense that sprouts up on the web regarding photography. It could become a good reference point for folk . And could bump up traffic over time. There are a few excellent writers and very well informed folk amongst your ranks.
