The fallen limb with the highlight end is inspired. It makes this image special. A line is added that echoes the line of the falls; it links via the foam trails in the river and knits everything together. A bit of rugged outdoorsiness is added as well.
In the top corners. They look like grapevine leaves? Is this so? Whatever, they add some framing as well.

I cheated and it didn't help me. Figuring that I might get a clue from the images on each side, I looked at this and the shots alongside on FlickR. Nope.
This time I'd have preferred the shot without a title. To me, the shot suggests sound. The vibration of strings. Rich wood and brass. Craftsmanship and musical instruments. I think you got the proportions, the black spaces and the positioning, just right. We need spaces in music too. The framing choice feels exactly right in colour and weight as well. -

We could start a thread on spiral-themed images. Very nice shot of the sisal-covered plot. Your cat is just doing his job! Cat scratching posts and pads are made of sisal. They love to claw it. It keeps them satisfied and away from other furniture.

Your conclusion is timely.
The more distant bear, being white, picks it out from the background. The tree trunks connect them. The darker bear would have assisted you by turning to the left but that's nature for you. Nicely caught and composed. -
A moment of connection. A wealth of small touches establishes the moment between two people. The tilts of the heads, the crossed legs, the cups, and the dogs. A human moment we all recognize. Looking at this you have to wish them well.

Yes, both are a subspecies of Black Bear called Kermode Bear. The white fur is a result of a recessive gene, so that gene must be present in both parents for the offspring to be white. For much more than you wanted to know, check out this Wiki link: Wikipedia - Kermode Bear

I tried an edit of the first one to make the clouds darker. It seems to work nicely.
The weather was changing quite fast with dark and lighter clouds flying by. At some moment the clouds could have looked darker, just like this, so the edit is not too far from the real weather that day :-)Is it better than the original?

Somehow the "Dutch angle" tilt gives it a more dynamic feeling. Together with the title, you can really imagine that the squares are lifting up and flying off :-) -

I see you posted again, and after much searching, I found your additional comments within those of Fireplace ("Now that I have been told that they are chimes...")
I think there are also two additional entries from ChrisOly with my pic that appear to have no new comments.
I understand from Minnie that many of you are still struggling with this format. I can sympathize! However, once you learn to type your replies outside someone else's comments (find the end-quote tag), it's a lot easier. Also, there is the edit button to fix bloopers. I've employed the edit button on DPRev many, many times!

Yes, initially I was caught out a few times until I realised I needed to scroll down to the last end quote. It isn't always obvious that there is more text below. I am thinking of making a suggestion on the requests page that the insertion point is placed there so we don't have to click.

The bench on the right side breaks up the flow of the image and makes it unbalanced. If it had been on the left there would be a curve near to golden ratio and the image would have felt more natural.
Your description makes it clear you weren't going for balanced or comfortable. The composition works.
I think I prefer the wider image as well. It has a sense of loneliness or isolation or out-of-place which also works better. It makes the buildings feel like they are encroaching on the beach's tranquility. This ever growing wall of man made buildings intruding.
It all reminds me of a scene from the movie "Dark City" -
I suspect that sometimes people are using phones too, which I can imagine adds greatly to the degree of difficulty. I'm not "out and about" enough to need a phone with internet; I wouldn't be able to read the tiny text anyway, lol.

it has taken a while but I now think I have the habit of scrolling down with each reply to find that final post. My problem is the number of times I need to run through the entire week's posts every time I want to add a reply. I find I need to do this for every photo I'm commenting on to ensure that I have my head around the to-ing and fro-ing of discussion around that image. It is taking too much time. The scrolling repetition becomes boring. Worse, I find I don't have a grasp of the thread of discussion about an image. This is a problem for me. I'm finding that we are drifting into a pattern of individual responses to an image - similar to the various threads with images posted where participants make a post and move on. It doesn't encourage the kind of in depth discussion of an image that I feel has been the distinguishing feature of our weekly meetings.

It's difficult for me to scroll through several pages of very different photo subjects and styles, let alone keep track of conversations. I hope there's a solution soon as I've grown quite fond of this group!
