That photo is good, it really does conjure up thoughts about 1001 Nights.
Good choice to use B&W, It works well, especially if that lake was just a muddy brown in reality
The only critic is that if you look closely at the image, in full size, there is a stange looking noise structure in the sky, like lots of little worms.
If it disurbes you,...with your favourite PP software, ...masking that error and making a noise reduction on the area would get rid of it, like in this edit below

A good image. I can see why it is framed and hanging on your wall.
I like such images where it is sunny, and nice and bright in the foreground but where you can see something in the distrance approaching!
Adds tension to the image!

I like this one, as others have mentioned the human figure looks quite alien, and the colour changes take us to another planet !

You caught a brilliantly fun moment here !! I bet it was fun to be there and see what else those policemen were getting up to.
B&W works very well.

An explorer in a dark cave; presumably your wife, (as we know from the 2023 08 02 thread, she's one of the fellowship).
Seems like she has made it OK through the green and pleasent lands of the shire, and has now enetered the darker caves of Moria!
The flare line from the head light following the narrow gap up and down is a nice touch this image.
The phone has managed to get both the dark and the bright tones captured very well. Assuming a HDR mode was used.
Phones are definitely getting better

It's actually not my wife, but Dettie, another from our fellowship.
It's funny that you mention fellowship, because on our first Scotland hiking trip, that is what we called ourselves : "The Fellowship of the Dram".

On a technical note:
I did not use HDR but I spotmetered on an area somewhere where the feet are (spotmetering by touching the screen for focus and exposure).
Later, I used the Photo App's native controls for correcting exposure (bringing up detail in the dark areas) and contrast + some desaturation.

Trying new things. Would appreciate any thoughts.

It's been a while since I took a nice trip, too. With 100 degree heat for weeks on end, the cool temps of the coastal rainforest would be welcome.

I was glad the roulette wheel picked a cool-looking image. Glacial water is always such a nice color.

Thanks Mike. It is interesting how much more we can do with old, problemed shots. I'm glad I don't throw much away. It's fun to revisit the older ones when you've been as housebound as I have of late.

It hasn't let me down yet though I am sure one day it will give me an impossible image, there's definitely some in there! I thought this one might be it since it was almost completely black when I landed on it.

That's a pretty one. I'm assuming sky or reflection of sky in water. With maybe some distortion in post? The whirlpool effect is mesmerizing.

Yeah, it's this reflective sticker thing of the sky. No additional distortion.

When you are as old as dirt like me, you've tried a lot of stuff! It reminds me of one I took of a reflection in a car hood, and really liked. We gotta try everything!!

A fun exchange between you two! If I couldn't continually try new stuff with my camera or processing, I'd simply never get out of bed.

Your abstract draws me in with its indistinct curves and strong blues. I could enjoy imagining stories or find shapes or just let my mind drift.

There's a limit (theoretically) to how much time I can spend at my computer enjoying images. To deal with the world I have a self imposed limit that means I very rarely get involved with more than one image per person per week. Open Cube and the discussion hooked me with this one. exploring skies and clouds is one of the great joys. I have nothing further to add to the thoughts on the image itself and the reflections on playing with images, except agreement with both.

Yep, I can relate to all said above.
Mike‘s self-imposed limit to allow time to deal with the world is cool. I just wish the world would reciprocate sometimes, because I have just been buried since returning home on Sunday.

Most importantly, I enjoyed this image. Even if the secret was quickly revealed, it is still an image, which invites the viewer to stop, think and be creative whilst interpreting it.

Having just spent an afternoon at a dinosaur park with my young grandson, and before that a visit to the dinosaur skeleton section of a natural history museum, I instantly recognise the subject matter. My mind has been programmed in that direction.

I would have guessed Bryce too. It is certainly a fabulous landscape, and an extra star for not being Bryce or one of the other well-known places.
The shapes and colours in the rocks are gorgeous and I love the fact that the colours in the trees are similar.
