Just a bit of context on #2 - it's a vertical panorama, the ground was shot at a much longer exposure; the glow behind the rock is because of the moon to-be-rising in that direction.I was driving there all the way from Victoria, Australia, 5000km round trip, but for most people it's easier to just fly there and rent a car.
