In my new garden there is a big clump of peonies which I have been eagerly watching to see what the flowers turn out to be like. The first one opened this week. It seems to be the old variety 'Sarah Bernhardt' 😍 This was a hand held focus bracketed set (stacked in Ps) which seems to have worked ok despite the windy evening.

Who can resist such wonderful textures catching the sunlight.
Orchids are weird and very cunning. This one is mimicing some insect or other to entice its fellows to alight and attempt to mate with the flower, thus acting as pollinator. The blueish patch is called the speculum or mirror.

A pretty pink colour. Yes it looks nicely stacked.
Is it your camera or is it the software that lines up the sets? I have to use a tripod with the Z8, but Helicon seems to fix small movements as wind always seems to be present. I never got on with a 50mm eq macro, the 105 seems a good length for macro.

It's the stacking software (Photoshop). It's two stage process, first it aligns the images, then stacks, choosing the bits of each image with most contrast (ie in focus). I don't usually use more than four or five images and it only takes a few seconds for each stage. If there's too much movement (me or the subject) it blurs. Although it was quite windy, in this case the whole flower was moving slightly, rather than individual petals or parts of the image, so it was still able to align quite well.

Focus stacking is new for me and I am still trying to figure out a methodology. Helicon seems to take into account small movements, but I am not sure.
The burst rate on my Nikon is pretty slow so hand holding seems out of the question.

This is back side of Fotografiska, the contemporary photo art gallery, there is also restaurant, so I think that it's service entry for restaurant. The F-s are Fotografiska sign. BTW, it has quite interesting artists at the moment, one is Elliot Erwitt with his mostly BW photos. Other is Bruce Gilden, his exhibition is quite impressive, and maybe even shocking. These are my favorites here. On second shooting position bit left would been better maybe, then the man in background were not blocked. Right now I don't see what he does and it leaves this photo as cliffhanger.

Pink wouldn't be my colour of choice for a complete colour scheme, but there are occasions... and different pinks... This is nice and soft, suits the flower perfectly, and doesn't last long!
