The first one is perfectly seen, with nice colour and composition.

I find the second shot a little too dark.

Back To Brinscall Woods

1. Fat River

Hatch Brook looking a bit swollen. It's usually shallow enough to just walk across here, but not this morning as its regular route out of the woods and into The Goit (a drain guarded with iron bars) appears to be blocked.

2. Hatch Brook

A wider shot of the area around Hatch Brook. I had planned to take a wander around the other side of the stream, but that clearly wasn't happening today.

3. Close Up Colours

Not much to say about this. I just liked the colours.

4. The Long and Winding Road

A winding path weaving its way through the woods.

5. Random Ruin

One of many ruins in the woods.

6. Clinging On

A few leaves are still lingering in the branches of this tree.

7. Outreach

As previously mentioned, the promised mist was a no show, what were looking at here in the distance is the floor of the valley as it rises up the other side, giving the impression of a misty background.

8. Reunion

Warning: anthropomorphic trees time again. This looks like a bunch of friends meeting again for the first time in ages.

This was taken from a position a few feet lower than the previous shot. This location takes a number of obstructions out of the equation, but places the upper branches above the horizon line much sooner, so I ended up shooting this using the 65:24 crop to stop the sky intruding.

9. Yellow Bush

Similarly, I wanted to include the yellowing bush in the foreground, but a wider shot would have brought more of the sky into the shot, so this was the best compromise I could come up with at the time. There's a little bit right at the top, which sort of gives away that we're not looking through mist, but I wanted to keep as much of the upper branches in shot as possible, so I think this is acceptable.

10. Less Colourful Chaos

This is similar to a shot I posted last week, but the trees are looking an awful lot more sparse now.

11. What a Difference a Week Makes

The previous shot (right) compared to last Saturday's shot (left). Most of the missing leaves are probably blocking up the Hatch Brook drain.

Maybe just light paint her with a flashlight and not have the beam of light coming in from the right.

Interesting comment. I struggled with the post-processing on the shot with the leaves, road, and car. I did reduce the exposure. It seemed the sunlight was to glaring otherwise. I will have to take another look.

O.K., I'm seeing that now. Then just burn down this area in post so the light points towards what she is looking at without having a bright beam of light leading away from her (your foreground object of interest).

Just my opinion, of course, but I wish there were more of these types of discussions in this forum. I'm enjoying the back-and-forth on Fireplace33's hairpin bus photo, as well.

These are all great, it looks like you've really captured the flavour of the performance. The two shots above remind me of "The Crazy World of Arthur Brown" (probably due to the FIRE), although, judging by the video of this band I found on Youtube, these guys are quite a different proposition.

Nice image. Two things detract slightly for me, the dry sand in the bottom left (it's a bit distracting, just water would be preferable I think) and the light spill on the water beneath your daughter, which is presumably from the torch on your mobile and would be tricky to control as the torches on those things are unfocused and just disperse light in all directions, you'd need some sort of makeshift "barn door" to restrict the light a bit, but still tricky to get right when you're doing this sort of thing on the fly.

As someone who just learned about this song....how in the unholy heck did that song unleash so much influence on a generation of weirdos but have zero presence after release? It turns out I've listened to a tons of bands that were influenced by the guy, but I never heard this song mentioned anywhere. Wasn't in any issue of Rolling Stone I read, it wasn't mentioned on MTV, VH1, Music Box, nothing. Never even heard it on the radio back when that thing played only music. It's one thing that I didn't hear about this weird banger from Italy from the 1960s that was a minor hit in the States, but this guy started something massively culturally influential and then got turned into dust by history, despite the fact he's still is/was performing into his 70s or later. Like what the heck happened that made the song just sorta disappear from the cultural conscious?

Sorry for the rambling. Back to our regularly scheduled pretty picture posting.

That's interesting. Which bands claim him as an influence? TBH I've never heard any band reference him. I remember the song very well though.

But I agree that those photos where singer interacted with camera are best IMO. And she knew how to pose and react to camera, not many artist do that, at least here.

I like the road image, though I'd probably tried to frame it vertically.

This kind of music is not my first pick, I'm more into progressive, instrumental and fusion rock, but from time to time I venture to more dark alleys or other areas (jazz, classical, punk rock, trash, doom etc.). But the music Itk is playing grows on you, especially on concert with decibels to the max and stage performance.
