Because the guys here invested a lot of time, effort and money to get this site running when DPR announced it was closing. I felt it morally right to support them after DPR changed its mind again.

    Castello di Carpineti

This is one on my favourite places in the mid Apennines, with some lovely views. There was an extremely strong wind blowing and the bad weather causing havoc in Tuscany, was trying to breach the Apennines. I have posted pictures of this castle before.

We call this "nubi di sbarramento" which has no real translation, the nearest being blocked clouds, it is usually a sign of approaching bad weather from Tuscany. Not even hand held HDR allowed me to do justice to the scene, without falling into HDR over-processing.

This is a medieval castle that sits atop a steep escarpment. It was one of the fortifications erected by Matilde of Canossa a medieval lady warlord It is now closed for the winter, but it is easy to enter via a hole in the back wall, for a clandestine visit in the winter.

Pixels are good, they claim Pixel 8 is the best one in the game. I have 6a and I am happy with quick videos. I think computing powers of chips are so good and sensor sizes are even much bigger nowadays, so it makes possible to make such nice captures like yours.

Neither that type of music nor concert photography is my cup of tea but I enjoyed them. Thanks for sharing.

As long as I dont zoom in , they look similar:)
I think you can expect a better result with newer phones. Not just the computational aspect is getting better but also the sensor sizes are bigger now.

Pretty nice, when viewed in full size they remind me fine needlepoint pieces.

Since I didn't go on any trips this week here's some old ones, all taken without leaving the house, all from our balcony in Mühlbach.
in two different seasons of course :-)

Beyond the interesting picture, I looked at this full screen on the large monitor I use. The detail is impressive and the PP magic that must be going on is impressive too. I tried to do difficult light with my iPhone in Scotland as well, and it mastered the scene well. I did some family pictures as well whilst I was up north and with a longer lens, they came out rather well. It is easy now, for me to see why the cell phone camera is eating away at the dedicated camera market, for good or bad.

When I first saw last summer, what I could achieve photographically with little effort with the iPhone 14max, it reminded me of the time when I picked up some years ago a simple M43 Panasonic G100? + kit lens, and had lots of fun with a refreshingly, simple pocketable device.

Wow these are interesting comparisons. How did you drive there, it looks pretty thick. I hate driving in the fog

You are blessed with lovely views for your balcony. These crow shots struck a chord with me, the first one is almost an abstraction.

Indeed, it feels nostalgic in a way.

A really rocking set, looks like the beers freed up your imagination for some of the more crazily distorted shots. You can almost hear the music in this set.

Thanks, the shapes of bicycle, hat, door handles, additional vertical lines and the man's stair made it worked for me too.
