I just saw the email in my spam folder announcing the permanence. I miss the threaded functionality. Also, years of content in dpreview. I don't want to hop back and forth between two forums.

I forgot to quote your original post and I tried to delete so I could repost and couldn't. I had to insert the quote into my original post. So many nuances that the old site. I don't want to have to fight with the new kid until they get up to speed. And even then they won't have the previous content.

I appreciate the effort of those who gave us a landing place, but their forum has a huge uphill battle to catch up.

I will just add that the M43 weekly picture thread was getting steadily, less and less posts in the last year or so of DPR, I remember its heyday, when it was often relaunched in three parts. I think Wormsmeat was going to shift it to (I would imagine) the Open forum. I think this was because M43 was becoming a less popular format choice, and also because interest in camera based photography is sharply declining.

I think we just have to accept that mass participation in this thread is a thing of the past. I see some new names here in this thread, so I guess it might stat to grow.

Yes, the threaded view is desperately needed. I hate the format of all other forums without this possibility.

I fully second your sentiment, particularly the last one.

    That shot made me smile!
A real good idea to paint the mooring bollards like sheep. That person has a nice sense of humour.
Just imagine if a real sheep wanders along the quay and someone, after looking a little too deep into his whisky bottle, moores up a huge ship to it by mistake ;-)

I've seen that here in Austria a few times in the recent years. When it happens everything goes yellow!

    Another good set.
I like that rim lighting on the sheep :-)

I really like this shot. The B&W is cool, but the colour version is even better!

Interesting set, as you said, quite different to your usual haunts!

I don't know what's going to happen with DPR going forward, so that is of concern. However, the format there is still vastly easier to navigate than the unthreaded format here, and I find myself, now, back to perusing the DPR forum(s) a few times a day, again, and posting again there, too, again.

From a personal standpoint, I would prefer to see this thread back on the DPReview forum. But, I would understand having a significant amount of reticence about that, given the upheaval of the situation, and perhaps even uncertainty of future changes under the new ownership (in spite of reassurances from the Admins).

    Your call?

    -J

I believe that they are working on a threaded view { my preference as well } . I am still posting on DPreview though I read more threads here and will gradually move to here completely. I prefer the moderation , and content here

Remember that dpreview is 25 years old, and has been under Amazon for multiple years. dprevived is less than 1 year old. It is not a surprise that dpreview's interface is better. But l think we should give dprevived a more time to see what they can do.
