The Weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Starting 11 November 2024 Any Brand

I read in the paper that the renovation of Michaelerplatz is complete, so at the end of my walk today I visited it. This is a first snap showing the main entrance to the Imperial Hofburg. Already I can appreciate some of the improvements, in particular the removal of the large cobble stones around the edge. While I always regret the removal of historical artifacts, these stores were pugatory to cycle on. We can see here one of the new trees and the absence of horse-drawn carriages that always used to stand there.These have been relocated, and not only is the view better, but it is easier to walk across the "square". I hadnt noticed before that the inscriptions above the arch have been refreshed.

I will show comparisons of before and after when I get to visit in daylight.

PS. A technical note: while I am impressed at the suppression of ISO6400 noise here, I am looking forward to getting the latest version of PhotoLab, which does an even better job. This should come on the Black Friday sale...

Thanks for you comments. I like to see the detail. The perspective problem was due to taking it from the right hand side. I tried the auto-correction in PhotoLab, but it did a terrible job. What I now notice is that the LHS was vertical, but not the RHS. Using the manual perspective adjustment, I think I have fixed that. What do you think?

Notice the mesh inside the courtyard, which is to keep birds from nesting and crapping on the visitors!

By the way, looking at my earlier photos of this, from last year in the summer, I notice that the painting of the artwork below the arch is not recent, but it really shows to advantage under the lights.
