Yeah, pretty exciting. Neither of us intended to get married again - seemed like no reason to do that at our age. But doing some estate planning made it very clear that we'd be smashed by death taxes and such if one of us passed without being married. So, it's happening for practical reasons, but we've gotten into it now and its fun planning a party at our house for our big combined family.
Still trying to figure out how to get a notice if someone replies to a thread I started or a thread in which I'm participating. I've activated those "options" in my "profile", but nothing seems to be happening. It is a real PITA to have to scroll thought pages of stuff just to see if there's been a post.
When you upload a photo from your computer using the little "up" arrow on the far right of your menu line (probably not the right tech term) at the top of the reply form, a reference to it will appear at the bottom left of your reply form. Finish writing your reply. Then, place your cursor wherever in your message you want the pic to appear; click on the little box shape just to the right of the reference to the pic and a line of gobbledy-gook will appear in your message at that spot. Hit "Preview" and you should then be able to see the pic. If all looks, OK, hit "Post Reply".
I thought I'd register here to check it out as a possible successor for me to DPReview. I registered under my actual name rather than the rather silly "Birddogman" nom de plume.
One weird side effect is that other family of the first one to pass away may be seriously cut out of heritage: when one spouse dies, the bulk is inherited by the other, when that one dies, their immediate family inherits everything with the inlaws being cut out.
So if the respective inlaw families are not on a good footing, serious imbalance may result. I mean, the good thing is that you are not going to be the one sorting this out. No idea whether one can avoid this headache with additional paperwork.
In the thread view, the box next to [All Categories] has multiple choices, so you can see everything, threads you started, subscribed, etc.
To get to the very bottom of the thread, click the text at the far right which ends in minutes/hours/days.
To get to the "new" posts in the thread, click on the icon at the far left. (The "new" function is a bit strange on where it jumps)
If you hover over various parts of the line, you'll see that they go to links also. I've not tested them all.
