interesting that you deflect. This sub-subject arose after someone made a plea for what I'd call common courtesy and got a reply containing the snowflake word. Now I got the impression that you had no problem with that.

I would prefer if ad hominem attacks and politics be strongly discouraged on this and any photography forum.
Anyone who still persists, is sabotaging DPrevived effort.

I think that they should be discouraged - and I am trying to do that.

I don't believe it is a deliberate sabotage effort, but it can have that effect as people will look at these posts and go elsewhere. So, if you care about this forum - please be polite, please be civil and please - not personal degredation of others.

Thing is, "far left" in the US is "right of middle" elsewhere.

Pretty comical all this 'selective outrage', and I wonder to myself who has seen Chris Rocks recent show called Selective Outrage where he comes on stage saying that he will try to do a show without offending anyone...LMAO.
For those who may be offended by certain words Chris uses in his comedy, remember that those words can be 'reclaimed' and used in a different context just like they can be used here. Just like 'snowflake' can be used non politically and without malice.

Good luck discouraging those who believe that calling someone a "snowflake" is neither insulting nor political in any way.

lol, don't worry, none of us were outraged by you calling Bill Ferris a "snowflake". We all thought it was funny too, BillFerris probably most of all.

Could you please inform the non-native-English-speaking crowd around here about the hidden meaning of calling someone a 'snowflake'? Thank you.

    From Wiki:
"Snowflake" is a derogatory slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions. The term gained prominence in the 2010s, and was declared by The Guardian to be the "defining insult of 2016", a term "thrown around with abandon in the wake of Brexit and the US election".

Common usages include the terms "special snowflake", "Generation Snowflake", and "snowflake" as a politicized insult. In the past, it held different meanings in reference to white people.

OK, seems there're some peculiar quirks in your language 🙄.

Let me stress that Bill Ferris is, in my mind, a very civil and valuable contributing member of both DPReview and DPRevived, posting exellent images from Northern Arizona to boot. None of those shots are possible here in and around Amsterdam so I always like to see them. Anyone categorizing him as 'a snowflake' (sticking to the above mentioned definition) surely needs an overhaul by the local psychiatrist.

Good grief, another example of The Dunning-Kruger effect!

I have nothing against Bill and agree about him being a valuable contributing member [just like anyone else]. Though I do take exception to his attempts of being 'teachers pet' and crowing for brownie points. But to each his own.
A local psychiatrist would aptly point out what was truly written, to which you should re-read before jumping to conclusions.

I'm not acting, and I'm also offended that you've now insulted me by assuming my gender.
And here I was thinking that I had found my safe space here. What is wrong with you people?

Sorry, but if you think you've found your 'safe space' in an Internet group, you made a big mistake (to put it mildly).
