Yeah, just remember this is a very big forum, and others outside of the forum can see what you post, and it will also appear in search engine results alongside your name.

doady is right there though. Google search picks up more than what I would like it to Sandy. My daughter was very careful at your age on the net. Mum and dad made sure of it. You are a young adult though, but still be careful out there and in here.

At it's core it is a messenger app created by two Russian brothers. The Russian part may or may not matter depending on who you talk to.

Telegram's great, though I thought gaming groups tend to use Discord. Just about all the gaming groups (two, don't have as much time for games nowadays) I'm in are on Discord.

Yeah, Discord is very popular among gamers, especially the voice chat option for events.

Apparently twitter are going to introduce end to end encryption on direct messages just like WhatsApp and Telegram but I still probably won't use twitter. Just seems full of hate and people with a chip on their shoulder about stuff.

I used to use Whatsapp a lot and still have many contacts there.

I was just reading up on Telegram and your chats are not end to end encrypted unless you select secret chat. Not that that bothers me bcoz I have nothing to hide in a chat. I am very much into keeping my details and surfing habits out of the hands of mobs like facebook though, and use the Firefox container tab if I need to use fb.

I may dl telegram and use it on my PC for a photo group like here.

I switched to Telegram after whatsapp changed their privacy / security in March '21. Basically allowed them to pass all your info to facebook, I believe.
Telegram is, for me, much better. Quicker, better upload limits, no annoying ads and no strangers trying to sell me apartments or gambling services! I haven't met any tin-foil-hatters there yet, but am sure they are around! 🤣
