    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday,e except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Argus-eyed Kitty of the Week!

    Cat on high

    Keeping tabs on the world below. :)

    ~~Image by @doctor

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    "Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, I am usually late. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras, all cat fanciers welcome! Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Tales of their lives or adventures. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #984 / DPRv #176 / Sunday Cats! #76
    Anyone who has not seen last week's images yet should make a visit there.

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Last week was particularly delightful! Thank you all. :) And late last week the order went in for the Sunday Cat! hats. Thanks to all who requested one.

    Thinking of our Argus-eyed kitty, I can't help but remember the Argus C3 camera that was so ubiquitous at one time. Anyone who has one is welcome to use it here. ;) And now with the fifth Sunday in August upon us, let's see what the kitties decide to do with the bonus.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    Something different. My main photographic passion, is architecture. I am particularly interested in Medieval Architecture. Many old churches in Europe are decorated with various animals, real and imaginary, representing good and evil. Sometimes we find a cat. The cat had a strange place in the Middle Ages. On one hand it was said that the cat represented the devil, because of its character. On the other hand the cat was most welcome as a pest controller.
    I shot these in Como last year.
    It appears they will not let themselves be distracted by the photographer from what interests them. The tail wrapped around the right front paw of each of the two sitting up shows that they are not disquieted by what has their attention. The image makes one wonder what it is that they see.
    The definitely look a little steamed at the hurry up and wait mode they've been put into. ;)
    Love the exquisite detail here. It's interesting how human like the cat faces are. And the one in the dominant place above the arch keystone suggests to me that the cat is being looked at favorably there. Are both on the same building? The similarity of the faces makes me think so.
    Cats have fascinated humankind for a very long time. And they still do. :)
    And we look forward to seeing them!
    This looks like a lesson in taking it easy, something we could all do a little more of these days.
    In classic tabby colors! Looks a tad annoyed at having to be the subject of a photo.
    Hi,
    Tired kittens. All worn out from sleeping all night followed by eating breakfast.
    20260904_101253.jpg
    We go thru two or three shirts a day each here on the farm. So, we are always doing laundry. They heard the dryer buzzer and came into the bedroom to take naps on the warm clothes.
    @Craig
    Welcome back Jake! Doggone it, we've missed you. ;)
    And the flower's delicate detail captured with that amazing 500mm macro lens is something else. Well done!
    Hi,
    Her business was screenpinting, and most of those you see are test print shirts. We just kept them and then used them here on the farm.
    Hi Kim,
    Thank you for the kind words. The flower is a tough subject--reds are impossible. I did receive your PM over at DPReview. It's about the only thing I can find over there.
    Not only the reds but getting the crisp focus and holding steady to capture that image. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how difficult getting that shot could be. I agree with you about DPR. I went over there this week to see what people were saying about the new OM camera being announced next week. Threads were hundreds of responses long. Without the threaded view and being able to see who the posters are and which ones got the most approval which I used to use as a filtering system, I just gave up. I do still keep a Sunday Cat! entry going there in the futile hope that I can lure folks here, but so far it's been pretty ineffective.
    I think the new and improved DPReview might solve this problem for you. All of the positive energy has been sucked out of the site.
