They mostly do nothing. They just look like twigs. They are still for very long periods. I was about to swept this guy off the wall and realized he was not a real stick.

These bugs are truly amazing and, as Bryan mentioned, if we don't see more of them it's possibly because of their incredible camouflage...

As much as I would prefer to think of them as glass rather than plastic, similar to what I mentioned about Monarch wings, Dragonfly wings are very shiny and see-through when they first emerge. Over time they become less so from marks and scratches and bits go missing from predators trying to catch them. So I find them more photogenic at that earlier age.
