This isn't my first attempt at capturing a rainbow of colours in a spider web. It never seems to pass expectations. Maybe there are some techniques I am unaware of. A larger depth of field would help and focus always seems a touch off (but that may just be the excess of reflected light). I am not sure how a filter would help to reduce the blown web elements, or how that would compare with some (-)ve EC.

    Thanks for the mention :-)
Your image here is really good, the colours come out well with a nice bokeh background too.
In some strands you have all the colours of the rainbow next to each other.

The colours seem to show better if the web strands are slightly defocussed, this spreads out the colour from the very fine strands over many more pixels and makes it easier to see them, so a sort of compromise is needed between sharp and colourful ;-)

I get what you are saying about de-focusing. A few weeks ago a flash of light on the ground caught my eye. It was a piece of broken glass about a 5mm cube with rough surfaces. I tried to take some pictures of the sun reflecting off it but even in the view finder I could see there was very little diffraction compared to what the naked eye sees.
