Photo Software - what would you like here?

Wouldn't there be just too many sub-forums if we started listing every software system out there? There are other plug-in collections besides Nik. Topaz is another. On1 has started selling its plug-ins separately from the standalone software. I don't think oem software has been mentioned. Would discussion of those be restricted to the camera forums? And even software packaged with computers like Photos has editing functionality. We also have software apps for smart phones. There are categories of software as well: raw conversion, sharpening, noise reduction, black and white conversion, AI, analogue, HDR, etc. How do we deal with that? Do we have sub forums for all the uses of software? It's a good discussion.

Yes. So only do so for the “majors” like LR, C1, PS, etc & then aggregate the others. I think Alan suggested same.

How about ART. raw therapee. darkroom etc for linux users?

I agree-separate forums for each pp product is a waste of space. some will always be void of users.

Not at all sure about the proliferation of sub-forums. A lot here post about how best to develop workflows with multiple products (e.e Lightroom and PhotoLab)

How would we see that working?

GPPT> Windows

What I would really like to see is a separate category for ON1 Photo RAW .
I think this is equivalent to Lightroom after all.

Crazy idea from a coding idiot...
As a user of DxO Photolab and Affinity Photo, I like the range of specific forums suggested. The level of granularity has been mentioned as a potential concern.

What if for some catergories that could fall under a broader general forum catergory, the forum thread title woud have to include mandatory tags for product and process followed by the question. Users could then set a filter like in Excel, to only view product and process threads relevant to their needs, and then revert to an unfiltered view.

Just my 2c. Is it hard to split it at some later stage? I'd consider making it on on demand basis. Broader forum descriptions stimulate discussions (as people see a lot of messages/comments in one place). People may be reluctant to post into an abandoned/low activity subforum as they wouldn't expect to get an answer there.
Once a generic subforum gets too overcrowded, it can be split further into subforums.
