No that is what I am seeing on my laptop as well.

I'm sure the Forum software has more bells in it than we can see, but for the moment .....
Not even sure I can include a direct link to the OP ?

Ron, I am not sure what you are trying to achieve.

If you are trying to make the quoted images appear smaller, 2 days ago in your reply to my A. Emerald dragonfly you succeeded. But every post since has shown the missing image in link graphic.
However the smaller thumbnails then broke the in-browser viewer - showed them small but couldn't enlarge - nor could see them full screen by r clicking and open in new tab/window.

If you just don't want to see them, you can highlight the text and click the "quote" popup button.
Or, click the quote button and delete the text that looks like gobbledygook.

Otherwise, as Arvo mentioned, it wouldn't be a bad idea if quoted images appeared smaller but retained their clickable status - to still see full screen. But that would be backend functionality.

[Edit] Also, when quoting messages, it is necessary to scroll down beyond the last /quote tag.

I asked a long time ago could the browser code insert the cursor at the end of the quoted message but it was never implemented. There are some who have been using this site since its inception who still haven't worked that out, and their reply gets added in with the OP's text - and sometimes all sorts of other weirdness...

    Ta Bryan,

Are you on a standard Win laptop with a standard browser ?
(The reason you could see the early ones, was the links were still in the post.
Unfortunately, that is a link to an unwanted thumbnail, so I've been trying to kill it off.)
We'll spitball it around next week , properly.

Better don't do that - this way images won't be visible to (most) other users. It does not depend on browser or mobile or desktop.
Upload/paste image, create preview link to it in your post - and please do not remove 'unwanted' thumbnail :)

Once upon a time, I used to fix/service mechanical wristwatches. Back then, I used a Nikon D50 and their 60 mm Macro G model lens. Later moved to a Sigma SD9 and the excellent 70 mm f/2.8 Macro.

Here's one shot of a military watch setting works:

For scale, the stem screw thread is about 1 mm diameter, the scratches about 90 um or less.

    Many more pics here:

    Enjoy!
