But does it matter? What's the difference between an AI produced photo and one heavily (and cleverly) photoshopped?
Personally, I look at photos and think 'that's nice'. or 'I don't like that'. I don't then look and ask 'was it made by AI?' and if the answer is 'yes', change my mind.
So, from a recipient point of view, no it doesn't matter (to me). But I can see how professional photographers may care. But only some. AI can't take wedding pictures (for example)

Yes totally agree. That is effectively what I mentioned earlier when I said AI image creation cannot document events, meaning that AI image creation will never totally replace human photography.

AI will never replace pro or any photographer shooting anything really, its why we take photos 😏 cameras/photos record subjects/scenes ect. AI doesnt record anything.

Don't be so sure! I can easily imagine AI being used to make "wedding" photos based on other photos of the faces of the couple concerned.
Of course, the clothes and backgrounds, etc., would be entirely imaginary rather than real, but I think some couples, who did not have a proper wedding in nice surroundings, may well like to have some AI-constructed photos rather than no wedding photos at all.
And the cost would be a tiny fraction of what a real wedding costs and what proper wedding photographers charge!

There is the possibility that we already are a form sophisticated AI. We just don't know it, and maybe deep inside, we are trying to evolve from it.

I don't like anything that kills jobs. There is a certain beauty in inefficiency and we keep trying to get rid of that without any concern for the ramifications. In that regard I don't like AI at all.
As far as my personal photography, its not remotely a factor. I have seen people post that if AI can post a better landscape than me, why should I continue? Well, try not making everything a contest, for starters. Connect with what makes anyone enjoy this hobby, rather than worry about other images. For some people, that may be impossible.
I work with some PS wizards. I have also seen what wins landscape photo contests these days. None of this stuff has been very real for a very long time.
