If you try and post in a section header, it gets moved automatically to the first available forum you are allowed to post in. You need to check here (see red circle) and make sure it's where you need to be.

You got me baffled. I have the same problem; I was in the 'descriptive photography' forum (or something like that) while creating a new thread but my post ended up in 'Open Talk'. See: dprevived.com/t/show-us-your-road-sign-photos/2185/#post-19255, second post. I'm sure in due time I'll get the hang of it, but it's not very 'intuitive'.
I say "power up the digicams and have fun"!
