I did some testing recently on divergence between EFCS, MECH, & ELEC shutters.
Using a lens with a fly-by-wire only aperture, at (nominal) 1/250 s - 1/4000 s, in 1 stop steps, at base ISO.
I did 16 replications of each combination of shutter speed and type, recording stats for 256(w)x32(h) patches, half-way across the sensor, at about 0%,25%,50%,75%,100% of sensor height.
At 1/4000 s, mechanical shutter, for the average of the merged green channels of the centre patch, I got a mean of 9.742EV (relative to 1DN=0EV), with a population (of patch means) standard deviation estimate of 0.0059EV.
I.e. the exposure variation (aperture and shutter) was about 0.0059EV at 1/4000 s.
The least consistent figures were for EFCS. At 1/2000 s, I got a standard deviation estimate of 0.0184EV. 1/2000 s is the maximum EFCS speed supported by the camera.
All other combinations tested gave standard deviation estimates in the range 0.0041EV..0.0069EV, with electronic shutter slightly more consistent than mechanical, and mechanical slightly more consistent than EFCS.
There were also systematic differences in exposure between EFCS, MECH, & ELEC, not very significant to most folk, but way above my noise floor - that's a different story.
