I received an email from DXO, the makers of Photolab and other excellent raw processing software. It was entitled "Launch of the DxO Photographers Club", which is offering "The Photo Storm Cape".

Looks expensive, and personally I wouldnt generally venture out to take photos if I needed such protection! But others may disagree.

Just like I have no need for weather proof camera gear. I am a fair weather photographer.

While I don't mind taking photos in the rain, I'm more inclined to use a bag to protect it and a cloth to wipe it down when needed. Not sure the cape is my style...

The elephant in the room for me is whether DXO have reached a dead end in the development of their programs like Photolab, and are looking for other ways to continue their revenue stream. The new product is something that I would have expected from Peak Design, as it would fit better into their current offerings.

DXO have diversified in the past. with disastrous results. Remember the camera add on for cell phones?
