I have been trying to capture the Common Glider in flight for a long time. He is one of the many that shoot around all over the place and rarely remains in the one spot long enough to frame and get focus. Today I got lucky...
No I don't own a Hasselblad - just borrowing the aspect ratio...
XPAN format (65 x 24) is good with the right subject... Australian Tiger
How do you ever catch these in flight? I've tried and the dart around so quickly, I never get enough time to focus and click.

Bryan, nice photos, you've mastered them...
When I first saw Dragonflies I immediately thought it would be great to get them in flight, but quickly realised it was an almost impossible task (especially with the FZ300 I was using then). Then I found there were one or two species that do hover for a few seconds every now and then. So it became a matter of patience. As you say, when they are darting around, there is just not enough time. I tried using pre-capture to get them taking off. Even then, at around 10 frames / second, there is at best only one frame before it's gone - and he's mostly out of the focal plane. I need a camera with 50 f/s and re-focus every frame.
I knew that I would eventually get this one if I waited long enough - but had given up many times.

Aparently XPAN is a Hasselblad fiim camera. but the shot is from a DC-G9? ...
Ahhh, yes, apparently so. Sorry for my ignorance. All I had seen was XPAN referred to as 65:24 - no mention of Hasselblad.
