I am here, like most I assume from DPReview Pentax SLR group.

I have been reading and occasionally posting since I preordered the K3iii, that is my primary camera. I have not looked to see if there is something like the "Gear" part of profiles on this site or if I should add that list to a signature.

The 3 lenses I shoot most frequently with are: smc DA 18-135mm, 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR, HD D FA 150-450mm

I meant to use the same username as on DPReview, but accidentally truncated from JoeOptics314 to JoeOptics

I am a not a Pentax user, but always wanted one, maybe someday I will get my hands on a K1 (or an APSC with a 28 or 35mm eq) in the meantime, I enjoy the images Pentaxians produce with their cameras. 👏🏼

I shot Pentax at one point but then moved to mirrorless. I recently bought K-01 and then the 40mm f2.8 XS lens that originally came packaged with the K-01. It's not exactly the same shooting experience as with other Pentax cameras but it is fun to take out from time to time.

That is a very cool camera which color is yours? I always like the blue one :) I think Pentax should release a 24mm pancake instead of a 40 for it.

Mine is silver. The blue color looks really nice though I never have seen one in person.

If the camera had ever caught on, they could have made a nice trio of pancake lenses and the three lenses would weigh almost nothing.

I'm new to pentax , I've just swapped out my Panasonic lumix fz82 for a pentax k70 and an 18-135 lens . I have only had it couple days but like it so far .

K-3II owner. Bought it for astrophotography mostly because of built-in Astrotracer but also for its great Sony sensor, solid feature set and tank-like build quality.

I really ought to give Astrotracer a proper try, It could have been very useful when I visited my brother last October, light pollution is much more of a problem here :(

Must admit I've never tried the Astrotracer on the K-1. Think it would work well since it has been modified for full spectrum.
    Thanks,

Another refugee from DPReview here. Looking forward to continuing the Pentax related discussions.

    Still confused :-)

Yes, I’ve a K3, a K3II, a K1 and a lot of lenses. I like them but nevertheless I also use a D7500, D600 and a D780 especially for animals. Last month I tried the Astrotracing function of the K3 II for the first time and was really surprised. Together with the Tamron 70 200 (Autofocus doesn’t work in live view mode) this a good combination for astrophotography.
It would be interesting if Pentax will continue the K1 with a MK III.

    Best regards
    Chris

It sure would have to be something a lot more appealing than mkII... I´m pretty happy with my K-1 I bought 2016.. I mean for slower pace dsrl shooting. 36mpix is a sweet spot for me, 45 is already an "old" sensor unless it´s stacked and Pentax will never go stacked or MILC. 60+ MP is just overkill.. hardly no one in Pentaxland will be that interested I think. For me 24 MP at the moment with Z5 is optimal for anything I do. A few FPS would be usefull sure at times.

If my K-1 dies on me I don´t know what I´ll do even if new model would rise.. maybe buy a second hand K-1 OG. Time will tell I guess. I can still use most of my K- lenses on mirrorless bodies.. although cripled to manual focus and/or wide open aperture.. DFA*50 1.4 is great even on Nikon Z5 (stuck @ f/1.4 with dumb adapter and sweet manual focus) if it dosen´t rain alot.. :D

K-1 (and mkII) still has the best back screen design! I hope they will keep it going forward.. I´m "looking" at you K-3III...

I think that's the point where I move to Nikon Z-mount. I love my K-1 mII, but Pentax seems to be dead in the water, discontinuing more lenses than releasing, talking about but not making film cameras, and generally seeming to sit idle.

Yeah. Turning point for me (I mean a sidestep from Pentaxland) was when they announced K3III.. No tilt screen and price in Finland was and still is horrible. For half the euros I got a almost new Z5 from German ebay with kit lens, FTZ -adapter, 3 batteries and Nissin flash. Bought it for adapted vintage glass in mind, but quickly used it for anything.. Started collecting F and Z lenses and selling crop K-mount lenses. All aps-c stuff is now gone. 1500-1700eur @ launch and K-1´s tilty screen and I would still be shooting Pentax only.

It´s sad that it takes a decade for them to make a DFA35/1.4* lens etc.. I don´t need one but.. Just sad. I would like to get the DFA 21/2.4 for wide angle but pricing is just nuts here.. got the Z 14-30 instead.

    Hi,
I have a K1 and a sackfull of lenses, mostly use Fuji though.
I started with the brilliant Spotmatic way back when 😀

My Pentax journey started with collecting M lenses, and now I still only have K, M, and A lenses. I never bought any of their new DFAs for my K-1 because they are just so huge. So using a Z6ii with an adapter would probably be a logical move should I need to. How are you finding the Z-system with your vintage lenses?

I'm also interested in the Z 24-120 and the Z 100-400, which is quite a bit smaller and lighter than the DFA 150-450. And where's the full frame 1.4x converter?!
That said, if Pentax came up with something similar to the 24-120 and make it f4, AW, and not huge, I'd probably get one. The DFA24-70 gets mixed reviews, and I really would rather have something that has range over 100mm.
