A nervous moment............

Taken from a canoe on a side channel of the Zambezi: guide behind paddling, me taking photos. Exif shows 140mm on M4/3, so not a very long telephoto!

Looks sure are deceiving as to me they look like big and cuddly but in truth they have danger written all over them :P

Thanks everyone.

Not quite as hairy as it looks. The hippos were in deep water on the inside of a bend, and we were in shallower water on the outside, so it was unlikely (not impossible!) that the hippos would leave their deep water to come for us.

A bit further along we ported the canoes past a stretch which was a bit less secure.

Beautiful to see. Must be quite a thrill being that close to them. Great stuff.
