The Guardian has a portfolio of photos of small-town Victoria (the one in SE Australia!) by Charlie Kinross, which is well-worth looking at.

Great link ... thanks! Obviously not Victoria, BC. 😉

In the signposts shot there was Melbourne where my cousin lives and also Ballarat, the location of the series "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" starring the absolutely gorgeous Essie Davis. 😍

Wasn't really an issue, more tongue-in-cheek - hence the smiley - but good job anyway ...

Hey, folks. Those shots aren't Ballarat, they are mainly Dimboola which is a couple of hundred km away. It's a town where I have taken quite a few photos. I can add some here if anyone is interested. A couple of weeks ago I posted a shot in the weekly C&C thread of a small boy and his father at a pool table. It was taken in the Dimboola pub.
Dimboola is noteworthy for a several reasons. It has one of Australia's great bush pubs which weirdly has been overlooked in the photo series. For a while it was home to Sydney Nolan, an iconic Australian painter with a series around this region. It was the setting for one of Australia's best larrikin plays and films, called, fittingly. Dimboola. Probably, most Australians don't even realize that it is a real place. The town has been bypassed by an expressway and few people drop in there. I do, regularly.
xpatUSA, I'm a fan of the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries as well and an even bigger fan of Essie Davis. As well as the TV series, the books are worth a read. Sort of Down under Agatha Christie with strong feminist character and exotic sets. Most of the books take up curious little aspects of Melbourne's history. Melbourne has a rich history. For a while, in the gold rush era, it was the most expensive real estate in the world and drew people from across the globe into a glorious melting pot of an era.

Not the best angle for the Fish on the Fish Creek Pub either; AND it's on the other side of the state (?).
