I find Photolab6 does what I need. One can learn its options gradually, as I have done. I often update every two years at an advantageous price by doing so at black Friday time. You have nothing to lose by getting the free trial. Once you buy PL, you have it „for ever“. They have frequent free updates.

That's a lot of pasta...yummy...looks good. Do the words below "mamma mia" mean "pizza, pasta and more" in English? Meer is "more" in Dutch and Mehr is "more" in German from what I could determine.
As I see it, it is a pun between Pizza, Pasta and More and Pizza, Pasta and Me. The bottom phrase means Enjoy heaven on the first floor (which would be the second floor in American!).
But German is my fifth language and there may be more subtle meanings that I am unaware of. Perhaps Simplejoy can help.

Italy being Austria‘s main access to the sea is associated with vacation. I think that‘s what they‘re getting at there. Get your dose of vacation feeling, while also eating a lot! 😅

This is my first attempt ever in shooting RAW and editing in DPP4.
I shot these in RAW at a 1:1 aspect ratio in monochrome. 02/16/24.
With the branches photo, I deliberately kicked the contrast way up to give it that high key look.
I just wondered how they looked on the "big screen".

Nice ones Steve!, DPP can do a lot with the canon raw images. I'ts actually my raw processing tool only. Don't use Photoshop or any other software for our digital shots.
Do use Gimp for our analog shots (TIFF images) but that's all 😁

That's neat to see the moon and Juniper. On Dpreview, we saw someone that would take pictures of Juniper with a telescope and we could see the red spot.

That's great you are trying something different. I also took some pictures in RAW recently and with DPP4 I tried to reduce the noise. It was OK, but not that good. So, as I discussed with David, I'm looking for a better denoising software. I'd like to see what pictures at ISO102400 would look like with software noise reduction. Even some of my ISO40000 photos could be improved. It's just something I'm playing around with. But needing ISO levels above 20000, are not that common unless it's really dark etc.

Darktable is a very powerful program. Perhaps predictably, that makes it a pretty complicated program. Most evenings I spend around an hour in darktable, I'm still don't know how to do most things in dt (e.g. masking, which is apparently one of the best features of dt). When I first tried it, after cancelling my short-lived Adobe CC subscription, it looked extremely complicated. Compared to Lightroom, darktable uses a more DIY approach. In LR/LrC (or pretty much any non-FOSS RAW processor, DPP4 included) when you first open the RAW file the program applies some sort of default preset, so your photo looks something like the OOC JPG preview without you doing any work. Darktable doesn't do that. As I was told over at discuss.pixls.us, this is an advantage, as it puts you in charge of the process from the start. IMO, makes dt less friendly to people new to RAW processing.
Control is a very important aspect in darktable.
Yup. There's an auto-generated list here, which isn't exhaustive, as I can't find any EOS R cameras on that list, though most of them are supported. I think if the camera is a year or two old it's probably supported. I've heard that the dev team are pretty helpful and quick when asked for support for a new camera, keeping in mind that that all the developers do it completely in their own time, unpaid.

RAW really gives you a lot of advantages you don't get when shooting JPG.
It's starting to feel like Spring proper.

I was flabbergasted this morning.
There's been a workman working on the roof of a barn on the property.

He left his extension ladder propped up against the side of the building, maybe 16-18 ft. off the ground, saying he would be back tomorrow.
As I was walking through the room this morning, I glanced outside the window and saw a cat wandering around on the roof of that barn.
As I stood there wondering how in God's name I was going to be able to get that cat off the roof, he calmly walked over to the ladder and came down the steps.
I just shook my head.

Today was sunny -- tomorrow will be raining! So I took a walk around the city. I was not able to get near enough to what I wanted to take, since the police had cordoned off the area around the Hofburg, as a ball was scheduled for this evening, at which a lot of right extremists were expected, plus a demo...
These shots were taken around 4pm, by which time the sun was quite low. Except for the second photo, the Leica 28mm was not wide enough, so I apologise for the lousy perspective! You need to expand these as much as you can to get the full effect!
Stefansdom (St Stephen's Cathedral), benefitted from the sun. The shadows were actually much darker, but I brought them up.
Right behind me was a little band of hippies protesting against paedophilia and other things. I thought the police would move them on, but I guess that when they discovered that they were not collecting money, they decided to leave them in peace.
Round the corner the sun was particularly bright on the top of a building that now houses a supermarket on the ground floor and a hotel above.
I am always amazed at how many buildings have quite ornate figures up high where people dont look very much. Here is a crop of the above photo. (This ability to crop is a great advantage of the Leica.)
There were more photos, which I will try to process tomorrow.
