I went out last night to a prog-rock concert and set the camera up with my 23mm lens. The video I got out looks great, but the sound is awful. probably because it was very loud and was clipping badly.

So, can I have recommendations for a microphone I can plug in to get me better sound. Be nice if it was stereo too.

You want a Zoom h4n recorder it seems, those are stereo, pluggable and can also be used as a standalone. Will set you about $250 or €250 (when in europe).

I think I'm going for a Sennheiser MKE 400. Just looking for the best price in the UK.
