A couple of my sweet granddaughter. Taken with the Viltrox 85mm F1.8 Full Frame version 1. I love that lens even though it is heavy and I was upset because right after I bought it they came out with the APSC lighter version. But now I just love that beast version 1 and I suspect because of the crop factor it has some of the softness in the corners cropped out. Now, I don't think I would trade it for the apsc version.

Location of the old windmill at Berkenwoude, NL, built in 1723.
The ruins are not much to look at and they built a picknick table right in the middle.
So I stood on the table to make the pano shots ;)
But you can still feel the history of the place, if you are sensitive to that sort of thing.Fuji X-T3 and f2.8 16mm. Stitching done with Ptgui.

We rented a golf cart and did some exploring today in places I'd rather not take the truck. The dogs loved riding all around on it.
There's a large untouched natural area with a trail. Incredibly thick vegetation and wind-tortured live oak trees. This is what the first Europeans must have seen after a harrowing crossing of the Atlantic. Pretty intimidating. The dogs pointed some quail in that jungle, much to my surprise. Guess who found a snake at her feet and nearly jumped to the top of the trees? 😁

The nest
Between March and June it is a good time to observe the white storks in SW Portugal's coast. It is the only white stork species in the world that builds its nests in coastal cliffs. About 2 weeks ago I went back to make a few more photos. I caught one nest with eggs, so in a few weeks the little ones will be born.

I sometimes wish I had the 100-400mm lens instead, for the extra reach. But then I quite like the smaller size and quality of the 70-300, which I normally have with me while walking on the trails.
I even managed to get a seagull in flight, not my usual subject or forte.

I was seated near the cliff's edge. Opposite from where I took the following photo. It is a small bay in front of the lighthouse in Cabo Sardão.

I recall some time ago a discussion of what a "buzzard" really is. In the US, turkey vultures can be synonymous with a buzzard even though they are distinctly different species. Don't know if the source is correct but someone claims early European settlers to the Americas gave familiar names to creatures resembling those they had left. A large soaring scavenger bird in the East was named a Buzzard and so on.
In any case a good image of the "Buzzard."

Nicely done.The 70-300 seems to do a very good job, have you thought of adding the 1.4tc if you need reach without the weight of the 100-400?
