Every so often I click on Users at the top of the page and see a list of only the first 50 "ranked" members of the site. The other day I was ranked about 10th, today I have suddenly shot up to 4th for no reason that I can fathom. What can I possibly have done to deserve this or, alternatively, what have others done to deserve demotion?
Perhaps somebody could explain how users are ranked and the purpose of the exercise.

Rank is (or at least should be - I haven't investigated ranking code) based on post count over last 30 days. You likely have done nothing, some others have not posted lately. When did Danno left the forum?

Well, it says you have 105 posts over the past 30 days.
So if you have been posting several per day, sounds about right.
I don't post nearly as often. And my ranking shows that. ;)
Actually, I haven't looked in quite some time. I did today because the subject has come up.

If that is what “ranked” means, I suppose you are correct. I thought the word implied some kind of order or merit, which is why I found it hard to believe. I obviously need to get a life!
