Today with your Pentax

I had a fairly frustrating day with my macro lens trying to get a clean shot of some blue flowers at 1:1. I failed to get a shot due to wind, camera shake, both, or just plain bad manual focus. I find I often struggle using this lens. The shallow depth of field at f2.8 makes finding the plane of focus difficult when magnification gets high.

Anyway, here's today's catch.

Nice shots, barondla. I like the leading lines in the grappler composition.

I'm travelling for the next week and a half, visiting relatives in the US. I didn't get to use my Pentax gear on the 19th, but I did get a cell phone shot in O'Hare airport.
I got some time to import and edit a few shots from the 20th while visiting with relatives, which consists so far of a lot of board gaming using hand-painted miniatures like these.

We went to a craft store today. I took my camera. Here's a couple of shots. Posting a bit early because this place, which is already full, will be crawling with relatives in the next few hours. I'm guaranteed no peace for the rest of the day.

It was a travel heavy day today, and I had to drive the whole time. I did manage to pull over to photograph these, which I think are quite a sight.

I was a tourist in the town I grew up in today, at least for about an hour because the town is pretty small. Here's the county courthouse from almost right underneath it. I've been shooting in RAW+JPG since landing in the US, using the new Gold profile, and I quite like it.

One more for today. This is a statue of the second most famous person to come from this town. The first most famous, of course, is me, but Annie Oakley is almost as well known. I shoot almost as well as she did, but since I'm using a Pentax, nobody really pays any attention.

Wow, great work barondla! Those IR images are spectacular, and the drama created by the fly in a flytrap shot is super!

We drove from Ohio to Kansas City on this day (June 27). Wesley and I stopped for gas, snacks, and to visit the world's largest rocking chair and mailbox, among other very large things, in Casey, Illinois.
