My second bike - mid 50's.

    Royal Enfield 350cc side-valve

No pic but my first was circa 1936 external fly-wheel 225 cc two-stroke hand-shift Enfield.

    That's a really Interesting blog!
Seems like you have had a long standing, and still ongoing, relationship with a whole series of ever bigger and better bikes :-)
Great to share that hobby with your wife!

My only claim to motor-biking apart from a moped, was a Honda CB175, that I rode to school on in 1978.
Loved it and the freedom I had won with it, but nearly got killed with it a bit later on a busy high street. I was lucky and hardly injured.
My Dad helped me repair the bike and I rode it again for a while afterwards, I think more to prove I hadn't lost my nerve ;-)
Then went off to uni, without a bike. When I left uni, got a car and never really went back to bikes.
