Hello everyone, some information, rather than starting a lengthy discussion. I'm curious to know, when it comes to processing / converting X3F files, do you typically rely on SPP, or do you prefer using Kalpanika, Iridient Digital, or perhaps some other tool? Here are some links that may be useful:

For the X3F files from my DP3M, I use SPP.
Not my favorite program, but it works.
I save DNG files from the sdQH, and process them in Adobe Camera Raw.

For shots needing serious editing I use SPP 3.5.2 to convert and then save as 16bit ProPhoto TIFF to edit elsewhere.
In other words, SPP for myself is the best converter but not the finest editor.
For examples/illustrations, FastStone Viewer works well enough for the SD14 and previous.

Typically SPP. In some rare cases Silkypix (I have got some old version, pretty good for my SD14) - it creates better color, but does not produce SPP clearness.
After SPP, if cropping and some other postprocessing required (not often), then I export into 16bit tiff and then use either Corel Paintshop Pro or very old [Arcsoft] RAW Photostudio - the latest allows some extreme color and dynamic management.
(Both old Silkypix and RAW photostudio do not like high density screens and thereby are rarely used nowadays.)
SPP. Always the latest version. Even with the fp which having a Bayer sensor and storing dng could be converted with any new software.
If cropping or a slight rotation is necessary, I do it simply in Apple‘s Fotos.
As you see, a very basic approach.
