What do you expect? it is that time of year when the sun is low in the sky: the shortest day in the northern hemisphere was only six days ago. I remember observing shadows in Helsinki once: they didnt get longer or shorter: just followed the sun as it circled the Earth.

Shadows - it was taken 2019 Dec 21 at 4 pm local time.
As they say here in Texas, "If you hadn't of told me, I would never have knowed it" ... 😉
I once worked from Oct to Feb up in the Arctic Circle near Deadhorse, Alaska. The shadows disappeared along with the Sun ...
