Signatures would be great. I especially like seeing where people are located. It sometimes helps to understand the photographs better and also appreciate the locations that people are shooting (if not otherwise identified).
Right click > option Open in new tab for the Quote and Reply buttons
It is there on the site on other places and may other forum sites have this. Very useful if you're in the middle of a long thread and see something to reply to, only to discover on reading more that somebody already did so
thanks, but I think that is not what I meant. I'll give an example. I was reading the current thread on Exposure triangle. Op page 4 I found something I might want to reply to. But we are now at 19 or so, so I wanted to postpone my reply until I'd read all because someone else might already have answered. Not a biggie, just a nice to have
Unfortunately, I don't think your way will come to fruition without a LOT of underlying code change. But you CAN continue to read multiple pages of posts with the edit window open. It's not quite as big as having a separate tab/window. but it may help.
It was a strong point motivating dpreview discussions. One could keep the oversight of which reply in a thread referred to which previous statement, and thus completely ignore replies to statements already deemed as uninteresting sidetracks. One also could skip replyers known to produce replies of little substance. Moreover, the replier could highlight his point as title of the reply. Finally, I admit having used the likes to quickly sieve what others already judged to be perhaps more interesting replies.
While the concepts of the threaded view seem quite understandable, unfortunately I am not anywhere near capable of implementing such a thing with my very basic understanding of web programming.
I think more important than a dark mode is a notification notification alert 🔔🔔🔔🔔 to see in which posts we have interaction... Otherwise it is impossible to know.
Impossible is a strong word - it's entirely possible right now, you just need to check threads/subscribed. A notification icon will be appreciated, I'm sure it's under consideration by now as it's come up before.
Implementation of a 'Superlike button' would be nice, a button(link) enabling users to put an extra emphasis on images and posts they deem extraordinary in beauty and/or eloquence. Think of it somewhat as the equivalence seen at other social media platforms where one can emphasize extra by using a heart symbol instead of a regular 'like' or 'thumbs up'.
It is just a thought though, inspired by the emotion felt when confronted with those (special) images or text that you really would like to like more than once.
I can see that being hard at the moment, but maybe easier once we get some updates done. I'll add it to the list. Personally I liked to use the F key (for forum).
Can quoting be limited? I hated how DPR allows a quote within a quote within a quote, and before you know it, one response is mostly a quote. Maybe limit the number of characters or lines in a post.
I've already seen it in one message thread here, where someone quoted several paragraphs, and the response was to quote that message, etc.
We have been talking internally about removing the quote button and only having the "you select the text you want quoted and then click on the quote button that appears".
This forum is much more flexible that way than DPReview.
