Anybody use Wavelet Processing?

    It lets you edit only items around certain detail sizes - often called 'detail levels'.

    Here's a moonshot after post-processing:

    Some might say it looks OK but I wanted more acutance:

    I increased the contrast in Levels 1, 2, 3 ... 1px,2px,4px detail size, voila:

    Thing with wavelets is that one can do anything to individual levels - like change the color of grass to orange and sky to purple ... or smooth a background without smoothing fine details. And more ...

    Is that specific to GIMP or is there an equivalent in something like PS?

    Alan this method works with older versions of PS not sure about the latest as I have not used it for a long time and only tried it out even then

    I'm not familiar with PS but it is not specific to the GIMP as Jim said while I was typing..

    RawTherapee has 'Contrast By Level Details' and also a full Tab's worth of more complicated Wavelet stuff.

    I believe that the command-line ImageMagick can do it but not everyone likes command-line work.

    Here's a quick and dirty shot at changing the foliage color and independently the sky:
